Joining a club or society can offer much more than just a hobby during your studies. There are loads of benefits!

At Heriot-Watt, there are plenty of options to consider when thinking about getting involved. All run by students, for students, they're one of the best ways to help you integrate into life at Heriot-Watt.
Sports
If sports and fitness is your thing, our Sports Union gives you the opportunity to join a club, receive coaching and compete in your chosen sport. There are regular competitions at national and international levels in a range of sports, including archery, fencing, mountaineering, squash and volleyball.
Student Societies
Whether you have one in mind already or you're up for trying something completely new, societies are a great chance to find a hobby whilst at uni. Flexible to your studies and the perfect chance to make friends with students from around the world, there are loads to choose from!
International students
With about one-third of our students from countries outside the UK, we have a real international flavour at Heriot-Watt! There are several groups offering support and organising social and cultural events for international students so make sure you make the most of it.
How do I join?
Take a look at our HUGE list of societies already started by the students at Heriot-Watt and simply get in touch with them. There's everything from Pokemon to Malt Whisky!
I want to start my own society
Great! They have a full guide for how to get started. You will need to find nine or more people who are just as interested in your society as you are.
